Old School Acres Angus Beef:
Our cattle that we raise are purebred Black Angus. The calves are born in April/May and spend the spring, summer, and fall with their mothers in the pasture. After they are weaned in the fall they are fed primarily hay and corn silage. Over the next few months the grain (corn and barley) that they receive is increased. They are finished on a full ration of grain with access to as much hay as they want to eat. At no point in their lives are the cattle given any antibiotics or growth hormones. The process we use to finish our cattle is the same as my dad used 30 years ago and ensures that we provide a delicious and consistent product to our customers.
Old School Acres Pork:
Our hogs are raised outdoors in open air buildings. They are farrowed at various times throughout the year, outside as weather permits or in open pens in our barn if the weather is cold. We grind our own feed for the hogs using corn and barley raised on our farm as well as soybean meal and a vitamin/mineral mix that are purchased. No antibiotics are ever given to any of our hogs.
